SKOOT app for iPhone and iPad

SKOOT is an app that enables and encourages the positive benefits of carpooling - lowering congestion, creating cheaper travel and overall more efficient and safer mobility - all with friends.

With SKOOT you can either drive or ride all within the same app.

To be a driver all you have to do is enter your vehicle registration number and then scan your driving licence where SKOOT will confirm acceptance, which is in realtime. You can now drive for your network of friends utilising your existing private motor insurance - any concerns you can check with your insurer.

When any of your friends need a lift, they enter the destination and confirm the address of where they want to go. SKOOT then finds your friends, who are happy and willing to drive you, with SKOOT displaying the pick-up time of each friend and how much the journey will cost (as calculated by SKOOT - keeping their car insurance legal).

You, as the passenger, choose your preferred friend as your private driver, and accepts the cost of the ride. The driver is then notified their friend needs a lift and are notified of where the passenger wants to go. The driver can decline if they are committed elsewhere and if refused, the passenger can choose their next friend who will then be requested.

Once the journey is accepted by both friends, the app navigates the driver to their friends location and a notification is sent to the passenger telling them the driver is here and ready to pick them up. In app messaging is available for any slight delays etc - like looking for your keys!

Once the friends are in the car, the navigation is updated to the requested location giving the fastest navigation there. Upon reaching the destination, payment is automatically made in the app of the pre-authorised amount.

If a driver wants to invite friends to an event and asks them to join them on a Gathering, the driver can set up in SKOOT journey entering the time, date and location of the event and then chose which friends to invite. The friends receive the notification of the event and shares the cost with each passenger paying their fair share (as calculated by SKOOT). Navigation is provided to the Gathering showing the fastest route to the event with all occupants receiving notification that the Gathering is about to start.

A history of all trips, instant rides and gatherings, is shown in your profile as both a driver and passenger. And you can update your payment type or what car you drive at any time.
